A downloadable game
CONTROLS:
- WASD to move
- Direction buttons to shoot
- SPACE to progress from start and game over screens
- Currently only the audio mute and X buttons on the interface work.
Being developed in Game Maker Studio, this is a Hearthbreaker Studios videogame proof-of-concept for a SHMUP with semi-navigable levels and 4-directional firing. Currently, this is only a demo for object tracking, firing mechanics, and collision.
The gameplay features an intentionally cramped screen to force the player to navigate the environment later, once actual levels have been built. Player deviation from center screen causes actual acceleration/deceleration, as well as straffing of the screen center through the game environment. The final version will be a semi-bullet-hell, with enemies coming from multiple screen directions, and some levels having different scroll directions or even changing scroll direction mid-stage.
ROADMAP
- Get dialog screen up and running to explain controls in-game.
- Build first boss for the tutorial mission.
- Build workshop screen for actual story intro and progression mechanics explanation.
- Build galaxy map screen for level selection.
- Build first navigable map for stage 1.
- Build actual enemies for stage 1.
- Iterate to completion.
